Are you finding old difficulties are getting worse? Or, are you finding new problems arising since the pandemic hit? If so, you are not alone. And there is help!
A simple requirement to wear a mask may trigger anger or anxiety. Some people are finding they have panic attacks when they put a mask on. Others feel they are being forced to do something they don't want to do and become angry and rebellious even though they know wearing a mask is wise in enclosed public places. Others are panicking because either they can't get leave the house or because they're afraid when they do. Agoraphobia may increase because of increased perceived danger. Or people may feel they are closed in. Cabin fever is a real thing! It can seem impossible to overcome these difficulties. They can seem completely uncontrollable. It can feel like these responses are hard wired or are "just who I am." In part this is because of how the survival areas of the brain function. They operate outside of conscious control. Willpower, intelligence even insight have no effect on these automatic reactions. What we do know is that these troublesome reactions can be alleviated. It is possible to disconnect the stimulus response and download new reactions. It is possible to have a new response to situations. When we are confronted with something that causes an automatic panic, phobic, or anxiety response, a memory is being triggered. It's not the kind of memory where we see the pictures or tell ourselves the story. It's a memory that has to do with meaning, flash images, feelings, and automatic behaviors. The good news is that these memories can be resolved and the sting can be taken out of them. Neuroscience has shown us that hypnosis is the avenue for making these changes. At Northwoods Hypnosis and Counseling, we use hypnosis in psychotherapy to help clients find relief as quickly as possible. With the increased world-wide stress of Covid 19, individuals feel it. Symptoms that have been manageable become nearly impossible to handle. Symptoms that were already challenging can become overwhelming. However, you don't have to continue to suffer. Using hypnosis is the best way to change as rapidly as possible. We're here to help. We're here to help you find the best in yourself. We can support you to regain your strength and resilience.
